David Cumming

May 2, 1949 — August 23, 2015

David Bruce Cumming, a native of Fort Worth, TX, passed away peacefully at home after a brief illness on Sunday, August 23rd, 2015.  Dave was born May 2, 1949 to Richard Alton and Foye R. Gilley Cumming.  Dave is survived by his loving wife Melodie Lynn, son Dr. Jeffery Cumming and wife Leslie, of Ardmore, OK.,  and step-children Michael and Amelia Bourassa.  He is a proud grandparent to Lily, and twins, Lila and Luke Cumming. Also, sister Sharon Hobart (Waco, TX),  and brothers Greg Cumming (Jacksborough, TX), and fraternal twin Dwight Cumming (Fort Worth, TX).     

 

Dave majored in Journalism at Texas Christian University after graduating from Arlington Heights High School.   His life work has always connected to his love for flying, history, literature, nature, and the art of writing.  He excelled as an editor, photographer, and contracted as a technical writer with leading companies in the aeronautics industry such as General Dynamics, Bell Helicopter, Raytheon, etc. and most recently, Beumer Glidepath of Arlington, TX.   This year he authored and illustrated his first book, “My Mane Tails,” which is dedicated to his granddaughter, Lily.  The book celebrates their mutual appreciation for horses and shares his “Stories About the Horses I Have Known.” Dave is a humble servant of God with many gifts, loving friends, and is greatly missed.

 

Graveside Service:  Monday, August 31st, 2015 at 11am at the historical Clark Cemetery in Weatherford, TX.  Alpine Funeral Home.

Memorial Service:  Saturday, September 12th at 11am at Christ Chapel Bible Church,  The Oakroom, Birchman Ave., Fort Worth, TX
