Elaine Shanette Logan

Elaine moved from San Juan to Brooklyn NY with her aunt to attend high school. She graduated from Franklin K. Lane HS in NY in 1970. She turned Texan by way of Georgia. Her son, Eric, was continually by her side. Elaine held several positions with charitable Christian organizations such as Easter Seals, Cornerstone Asst. Network as well as holding a position as Continuing Ed Representative at UTA. Her primary occupation was as a paralegal with Thompson and Knight in Dallas, Gardere & Wynne, LLC and Hernandez Law Firm in Fort Worth.   She later used her legal knowledge to help neighbors gain legal citizenship. Elaine was quick witted (great retorts) and was always ready to step into emergency help situations, including becoming an excellent dog sitter for friends. This probably helped lead her to pick the runt from her neighbor’s Chihuahua litter. Her dog, Guapa, became her much loved constant companion. Her son, Eric, will continue as Guapa’s caretaker. In her final year of life, she was delighted by her surrogate granddaughter, Lola, and Lola’s nana, Angela Miraldi and her son Eric. Lola and Guapa entertained them all with their antics. Longtime family friend, Sheila Britt will always be remembered as a true sister whose family stepped in for Elaine in her youth and made her their own. Elaine loved studying her Bible and journaling her deep reflections and she continued to grow closer to her Lord and Savior. Her statement, “God is good”, was a frequent reminder to others. Survivors are Eric Rivera Logan, son, Fort Worth; Juanita Rivera Santos, sister, Puerto Rico; Sheila Britt, sister, Brooklyn, NY; Tony Grant, NJ; Kevin Grant, Wichita, as well as several nieces, nephews. She had close friends who dearly loved her and will greatly miss her.
