Melinda Kay Cole

Melinda Kay Hunter Cole, age 56, died on November 4, 2017 at Northpointe Nursing Center and Rehabilitation in Watauga, Texas. She was the fourth of 5 children and the youngest of three daughters. In her youth, Melinda excelled at sports and performed well in school. She loved music, dancing, camping, fishing and being involved with the activities in which her two children participated. She knew how to take up for herself and defended her family and friends with fierceness and steadfast resolve. Melinda was the dedicated mother of two daughters and doting grandmother to her beloved grandson. She was dearly loved by all of her family as well as many friends and acquaintances. Those who knew Melinda well appreciated her directness and honesty as well as her witty sense of humor. She had the determination to get what she wanted in life and she would make the best of every situation, even after she was overcome with illness. She loved being around people andalways tried to see the good in everyone she met. Melinda was predeceased by both parents, Samuel and Martha Hunter as well as sister, Patty Hunter Dark. She is survived by two daughters, Brittany Lauren Cole and Kirsten Leigh Cole, Sister Anne Hunter Brown, Brothers James Paul Hunter and Charles Brian Hunter, grandson Max and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. A Celebration of her Life will be held at Branded Cross Cowboy Church 3318 FM 2048, Boyd, Texas 76023 at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday November 11th. Flowers can be delivered in care of Charlie Hunter at 1803 Clear Lake Rd., Weatherford, TX 76086 as the church office is not open for deliveries during weekdays. The family would like to thank the staff at Northpointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their loving care, the staff of Alpine Funeral home for their kind support and assistance with final arrangements and the staff and congregation of Branded Cross Cowboy Church for their outpouring of love and support.
