Retha O. "Zell" Flippo

November 18, 1933 — March 12, 2019

In Olney, Texas on November 18, 1933, a beautiful, red-headed girl joined the family of Ima Worley and Troy Frazier. She stood out from her two older, dark-headed siblings, Derold and Frankie because of that red hair.  She became known to her “Daddy” as his “pink-haired girl”.  To her two younger sisters, Faye and LaVerne, she was their “red-headed sister”. For the rest of her life she would stand out from the crowd for more reasons than just her hair. She finished High School in three years and graduated from Tivy High School in Kerrville, Texas in 1951.  She attended Southwestern Assembly of God Collage in Waxahachie, Texas. On December 31, 1952, she celebrated the new year by marrying a childhood friend, Harold W. Evans.  Her dream of having a family was realized when she had three children, Brenda Evans, Shellie Smith and Troy W. Evans. When her marriage ended, she worked at various jobs to support her family. She was a standout wherever she was employed, first in San Angelo, Texas and then in the Dallas/Fr. Worth area.  She was always able to advance quickly and reach managerial positions. In 1979, she married Bryan Flippo and moved into her home where she lived until her death. Bryan preceded her in death in December of 2000.  In 2007, she lost her much-loved son, Troy. After Bryan passed away, Brenda became her helper and protector with the aid of Shellie and her husband Carl Smith. During her prolonged period of declining health, she often looked for her “Daddy” and waited for him to   come for her to attend a revival that he was holding.  On March 12 of this year, she found her Daddy and that revival.  Her family rejoices in the successful end to her search.
