Sherry Gutkowski

January 30, 1971 — February 21, 2015

Sherry Lin Gutkowski was born in Hurst, Texas on Jan. 30, 1971.  She was a loving daughter, sister, & fiancée.  Sherry loved life & believed in living it to the fullest right up to the end.

She grew up & lived her entire life in Arlington, TX.  She graduated from Arlington HS in 1989.   Sherry got a job by chance through a friend at the Will Rogers Coliseum that sent her down her chosen career path.  Starting with a few classes at TCJC and UTA, she transferred to Texas Wesleyan University as a full time student and graduated in 2000 with a degree in sports management.  Working as an events and promotions coordinator /sales manager was the perfect job for Sherry.  She interned at the university and then went to work for the Fort Worth Cats when they were just starting the team back up.  She worked for her beloved Texas Rangers and for “The Ticket” radio station for awhile.  With every job, she honed her skills.  When Sherry landed at the Arlington Hilton hotel, she really shined.  She was truly in her element, doing the work she loved and at the same time being paid to work with the sports teams she loved.  She was lured away from her longtime Hilton job by the Bowling Proprietors Association of America in 2014, her current employer.  Sherry loved her work.

Sherry loved sports – Baseball especially – she could quote stats with the best of them sometimes knowing more than the guys. She loved the outdoors – anything that would take her outside, camping, fishing, tubing, skiing, bungee jumping, zip lining…..she had done them all and would try nearly anything.  She was fearless and full of life.

Sherry leaves behind the love of her life, her fiancé, Mark Montgomery.  Work brought her joy into her life and it also brought her love.  She met Mark when they both worked at Hilton.  What began as coworkers and friendship, ended up as a lifetime relationship and commitment with a wonderful man.

Sherry leaves behind by her parents, Ron& Lee Ann Gutkowski;  her mother, Dona Houk;  her sister & best friend Renee Barton; brothers Troy Gutkowski & Josh Houk; her nephew Jacob Barton (her best little buddy & her favorite baseball player) & multiple uncles, aunts and cousins. There is her “other family”- the entire Montgomery family, who loved her like she was their own.  And then there are her friends, so very many friends.

Sherry Lin Gutkowski brought joy and laughter to nearly every place she went and nearly everybody she met.  Sherry loved life and she was always the life of the party.  She believed that you should live life to the fullest and then some.  No regrets, no doubts, no apologies.  She died doing something she loved.  She was loved and will be missed more than words could ever express.
