Darlene Harris

August 23, 1947 — April 15, 2021

Our beautiful Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother, Darlene Harris, passed away on April 15, 2021. She was 73 years old. Her life was shared with a large, loving family and wonderful friends. Darlene Joy Searcy Harris was born on August 23, 1947, to parents James and Lucille Searcy in Fort Worth, Texas. She was their only child, but Darlene had 3 older siblings from her mother’s first marriage. She graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1965. One month later, she married the love of her life, Larry Harris, following a 5-year courtship.  Larry and Darlene were married on June 11, 1965. They lived in Tarrant County, during their 55 years of marriage.  They had three children, Bryan, Kevin and Alysha.  Darlene worked in a variety of jobs over the years, including as a nurse’s aide at Harris Methodist Hospital, in customer service at J.C. Penney’s, in various office support roles in a few locally-owned small businesses, and finally as a transcriptionist for Radiology Associates.  She retired in 2009.  Before she became disabled, she loved spending time fishing and camping with her husband in their trailer, traveling, and she was a fan of both the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys.  However, it was her family that was most near and dear to her heart. Darlene is survived by her husband, Larry Harris of Watauga, Texas; her son, Bryan Harris of Dallas, Texas; her son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Sherry Harris of Fort Worth, Texas; her daughter and son-in law, Alysha and Larry McCaskey of Keller, Texas; her brother, Jack Jones of El Cajon, California; and her sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Richard Hoyler of Arizona City, Arizona.  She was preceded in death by her sister, Billie Moga of Fredricksburg, Texas, but survived by a brother-in-law, Dick Moga.  Darlene had six grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as other extended family. A celebration of life memorial will be planned for a later date.
