Donna Marie Haney

Fort Worth, TX
February 19, 1960 - February 7, 2022

Donna Marie Haney, age 61 of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away on February 7th, 2022, after a brief illness.  She was surrounded by family and grateful for the prayers and well wishes that she had received from so many. Donna was born “Donna Marie Mendenhall”, on February the 19th, 1960, at Mildenhall Airforce Base, to proud parents Robert Mendenhall and Marie (Mendenhall) Murray.  Donna spent her youth in the company of her beloved younger sisters, Lynda Murray and Karen DiSalvo, whom she often described as equal part accomplices and best friends. Donna grew up in Miami, Florida, under the loving care of her mother and her stepfather, John “Sarge” Murray and spent her summers in Nebraska with her father, her stepmother, Rose and her step siblings Larry, Lisa, Lana and Lori. She graduated from South Miami High School in 1977 and soon moved to Dallas, Texas, where she met and married James C Haney Jr. Through this union, Donna’s family grew to include in-laws James Haney Sr. and Winnelle (Haney) Carter, as well as Sister-in-laws Barbara Reed, Susan Uptmore and their husbands Tim and Jack.  Donna and James had four children; Angela Haney, who passed in childbirth, James C Haney III, Robert M Haney and Carolyn M Haney.  Donna was an exceptional mother and always eager to go the extra mile to ensure the happiness and wellbeing of her children.  She served on the board of directors for Arlington Southwest Little League for many years and was a fixture at her kid’s extracurricular events and school functions.  In 1997, Donna returned to college to get her Associates degree from Tarrant County College before becoming a proud Ram at Texas Wesleyan University. She graduated with a multi-major B.S. and at the top of her class while writing and editing for the campus newspaper, The Rambler, and serving the community with her sisters in Gamma Sigma Sigma.  In 2008, Donna was overjoyed to welcome a daughter-in-law into the family when her son James married his college sweetheart Erin (Lewis) Haney.  In the years that followed, Donna would tell anyone who would listen that the greatest joy in her life was being the best Grandma in the world to her four cherished grandchildren, Emily Marie, Heatherly Dawn, Natalie Winnelle and James C Haney IV.  She set a precedence of fun, care and unconditional love that will never be matched or forgotten. Through the course of her professional career Donna made many friends and touched many lives.  She was particularly grateful for the love and support she felt from her TD Ameritrade/Charles Schwab family through the last few difficult years, as Covid changed so many aspects of daily life.  She was Grandma.  She was Mom. She was daughter. She was big sister. She was Aunt. She was a wonderful friend.  She was an incredible coworker. She was a bleeding heart. She loved her Texas Rangers. SHE HATED THE DALLAS COWBOYS. She would have wanted that last part capitalized… She was brilliant, beautiful, witty and generous. She was a fighter. She was a that little bit of encouragement that got you through the rough day that no one else noticed you were having… She will be so dearly missed. We will hold a Celebration of Donna’s life on April the 2nd @ 6:30 PM, at the Hilton Garden Inn in the Medical District of Fort Worth.  All who loved Donna are welcome. Food provided to those who RSVP.  Thank you for having been such an important part of Donna’s life and legacy.
