Nicolas Soto

Nicolas Soto, 95, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2021, at home with his family.   Born in Edinburg, TX on October 10, 1925, to Margarito and Sallie Soto.   He grew up and worked on the family farm until joining the Army at 19.   He honorably served his country as a member of the United States Army in WWII from September 1944 to September 1946 in Europe and September 1950 to September 1951 in Korea. Receiving a Bronze Star, Combat and Unit Citations, and Good Conduct Medal.   Married the love of his life Consuelo Bodden on December 9, 1950.   The family moved to Fort Worth, TX in 1957, where he started his career with the US Post Office rising to the rank of Regional Expediter at the Dallas Bulk Mail Center. He retired in 1989 after 30 years of service.   Nicolas was a member of St George’s Catholic Church.   Nicolas enjoyed watching sports especially boxing, baseball, and football. He used to move all the tv’s into one room so he could watch several games at the same time. Nicolas also loved working on his lawn and garden, and often got in trouble with Consuelo by pruning her flowering plants too much!   Nicolas is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Consuelo, as well as his 3 children; Roy, Alfred, Melba (Dan) Corley of Dallas, 6 grandchildren, Ashleigh Soto, R. Nicolas Soto, Kaci Soto, David Mackey, Conner Soto, Kelci Soto, 5 great-grandchildren, Samyra Soto, Anette McIntosh, Makayla McIntosh, Logan McIntosh, Jaclyn Mackey, Dismas Mackey, David Mackey Jr., Spencer Soto, and his sister Dora. Nicolas was preceded in death by his sisters Adeline, and Margarita.   Visitation for Nicolas Soto will be at 6 PM, February 24, 2021, followed by Rosary at 7 PM and the Liturgy at Alpine Funeral Home in Fort Worth.
