Roland Morton Jones

February 16, 1952 — December 7, 2018

Roland Morton Jones passed away peacefully in Fort Worth, Texas on December 7th, 2018 due to complications resulting from Myelodysplastic Syndrome—a type of blood cancer. He was 66. Mr. Jones was born on February 16, 1952 at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio to his parents, Col. William H. Jones and Lillie Rostosky Jones. The family moved to Fort Worth, and then to Columbus, MS before ending up in Bayonne, NJ, where Roland completed his senior year of high school. Upon graduation, Roland went on to study at Ole Miss University before transferring to Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, which is where his family had moved after his father’s retiring from the military. He then began a lifelong career in the menswear industry, retiring only recently due to illness. He married Jeanne Braziel Jones in 1982, and was a loving husband. He became a father in 1992 to Allison Jones, who was his little princess from the day she was born. The Jones family resided in Arlington from the time of their marriage until his passing. Roland was also an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers—a love that he shared with family and friends throughout his life. Most importantly, Roland loved the Lord. His strong faith carried him gracefully to the end of his life. He left this world with a heart of gratitude, and he entered the next with joy and anticipation. Mr. Jones is survived by his wife Jeanne, his daughter Allison Barrett and son-in-law Michael, as well as his brother Randy Jones. He is also survived by his nephews Jason Jones, Randy Jones Jr., and niece Savannah Jones, along with many dear cousins. A memorial service will take place on December 17th at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Arlington.
