Samuel Castleberry Jr.

Samuel E. Castleberry Jr., was a life-long Ft. Worth resident and second generation house builder, who died at the age of 83.  Known affectionately as “Skundy”, he was active until August 8, 2015, when his heart failed him.  Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service and celebration of his life at Alpine Funeral Home, 2300 N. Sylvania Ave., Ft. Worth, Tx, on August 29, 2015 at 11AM.

Sam enjoyed water skiing and dancing in his younger days and was an avid Cowboys fan throughout his days.  An Army Veteran, he was stationed in Germany during the Korean War.

Born to Samuel E. Castleberry and Anna Lee Payne Castleberry, he is survived by his beloved sister, Iris McLean and her husband Ross of Plattsburgh, NY, and their children Ross Jr., Scott, Carol (and her son, Lucas), and Jill.  Grieving are his daughters, Cappie Hausman and her husband Sid of Tesuque, NM, and Annadane Spencer and her husband Scott of Santa Fe, NM, and their children, Clayton and Victoria.  Sam’s passing is also mourned by his stepdaughter, Lorie Townsend of North Richland Hills, TX, and her daughter, Nicole Mchenry, and Sam’s stepdaughters Blinda Schweer of Mineola, TX, and Lisa Jones, of Arlington, TX, and their children.  Sam was predeceased by his wife, LaVerne Wallace Castleberry and first wife, Betty LaRue Crocker Christie.
