It is with great sadness that the family of Claude Wayne Billings, best known as Wayne, announces his passing after numerous medical battles, on September 24, 2018, at the age of 68 years.
Wayne is a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served in active duty as helicopter gunner. During his service, Wayne received a number of medals and honors, including: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Air Medal (1
st Award), and the Good Conduct Medal.
Wayne was born and raised in Caldwell County, North Carolina, but after his service in Vietnam, Wayne and his wife – and daughter Cyndi – were stationed in Florida and California before settling down in Fort Worth, Texas. It was Fort Worth, Texas where Wayne had his second daughter, Barbara, and not only raised his family but also built their beautiful family home from the ground up after a fire destroyed the original property.
Wayne will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Teresa Billings, and his children Cyndi and Barbara. Wayne will also be remembered by his five grandchildren, Zack, Ricky, Stephanie, Jeremy, Haden, his two great-grandchildren, Raynor and JD, his brothers and sisters Nancy, Maxine, Larry, Ronnie, Mike, Randy. His nieces and nephews Jason, Rick, Julie, Tina, Danny, Tonya, Angel, Betty and Teresa. As well as extended family on his wife’s side. Wayne was predeceased by his brother and sister Frank and Leona.
A Family Visitation and Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held Friday, September 28, 2018 at 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM, respectively, at Ridglea Baptist Church at 6037 Calmont Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76116, with Rev. Scott Cox officiating.
