David Clarence Sury

October 28, 1954 — June 5, 2023

Azle, Texas

David Clarence Sury (68) passed away in his home in Azle, Texas on June 5, 2023.
David was born on October 28, 1954, in Austin, Texas to Dorothy (Kramr) Sury and
Clarence Sury. He attended Radford High School in Honolulu, Hawaii, and went on to
attend the University of Texas in Arlington where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree.
During his time at UTA, David also served as the president of his fraternity, Sigma Phi
Epsilon.
David was fiercely loyal to his friends and family. He married Dana in 1982 and they
spent 41 years together. Through trials and joy, they came out of each season stronger. He
was a loving father to Jake and Madison, who were his pride and joy. He was always
there for both of them, ready to help as soon as he was needed and cheering them on
when he wasn't.
Known by his friends as Big Dave, he never met a stranger and lived by the mantra "the
more the merrier," much to Dana's chagrin. He had a way of making people feel welcome
and at home even when they barely knew him... yet!
David embarked on a successful career as a bank examiner, banking consultant, and later
an Executive Vice President at Affiliated Bank. He was dedicated to his work; but more
importantly he had a passion for teaching and mentoring those who worked for him.
Dave was selfless with his time. He was always ready to lend a hand in any situation,
even to those he didn't know well.
Big Dave soon became "Papa" to his 3 granddaughters, Norah, Amelia, and Brennan.
Spending time with his girls brought him much joy and laughter. He was a dedicated
husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family with all his heart.
David is survived by wife Dana, son Jake, daughter Madison and husband Logan Beans;
granddaughters Norah and Amelia Sury and Brennan Beans; siblings Mark Sury, Julie
Gross and Paul Sury. He is preceded in death by his parents - Dorothy
(Kramr) Sury and Clarence Sury - and brother Eric Sury. He will be deeply missed by all
those who knew him.
A memorial service has been planned for Saturday, June 10, 2023, 4:00-5:00 pm at
Williams & Lucas Funeral Home and Cremations in Fort Worth. We invite all those who
knew David to attend and celebrate the life of this wonderful man who touched so many
lives.
Rest in peace, Big Dave. Your kindness and compassion will live on through the
