Gilda (Francis) Peters was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on November 11th, 1950 to the late Amelia (Joseph) Francis and Gilbert Ferdinand Francis. She passed away peacefully at her home in Fort Worth, Texas on November 12th, 2024 at the age of 74.
Gilda was the fourth child born of ten. She was educated in the Orleans Public School System. She worked briefly at South Central Bell and then for the State of Louisiana. Her most cherished position in life was as a homemaker and mother. Gilda loved to bake, make jewelry, and collect her favorite animal, giraffes. She enjoyed playing cards, watching game and cooking competition shows; as well as Chinese TV dramas. She also enjoyed trivia; particularly ClueDat, a New Orleans themed trivia game that she played with her family every morning. She loved everything trivia related. She loved dancing and listening to her Motown classics and more recently found an interest in K-Pop. That was surprising to us all but she was truly into it. However, her true love was her Ministry. She was dedicated to it. She was a regular pioneer; someone that spent a great number of hours each month teaching the Bible to others. Her hope was that everyone would get closer to, and develop a personal relationship with Jehovah God. As one of Jehovah's Witnesses she believes what the Bible teaches about a resurrection to life, which gives us all the hope and promise of seeing her again.
She was preceded in death by her sisters Gail Polk, Cassandra Journée, and Lynette Green.
She was married to Junius Peters, Jr. and to that union was born, Janine, Jason and Jacob Peters. She was lovingly called Nana by her grandchildren, Morgan, Dylan, Jayce, and Eliza Peters and Layla Jones. She is also survived by siblings Diana Domino (Floyd), Janice Reed, Gilbert Frances II (Mary), Debra Jones (Jessie), Darryl Francis, and Kenneth Francis; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of friends.
No words can capsulize who she truly was. She was kind, loving, generous, selfless, and compassionate. She was a woman of high value. Although kind and humble, she never minced words on any matters she believed in. She always upheld high standards and maintained a level of quality and excellence in everything she did. She was the very essence of grace and sophistication. She will be missed, but we are blessed to have the blueprint she left behind. We are all honored to call her Mom, Nana, Sister, Auntie, Friend...Gussie, Gilda!!
