Irma Hernandez

May 26, 1945 — January 16, 2025

Crowley, Texas

Irma Ramirez Hernandez was born on May 26, 1945 in Ocampo, Coahuila, Mexico. She departed us on January 16, 2025 at the age of 79 as she crossed into the Promised Land. She was saved and baptized on May 13, 2024 in Fort Worth, TX by Will Cammack.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Maria del Refugio Garcia and Santiago Ramirez, son Fernando Hernandez and brother Aurelio Ramirez.

She was a woman of strong faith and enjoyed having some quiet time every morning with her Bible and coffee. This simple but devoted act is something that has been passed on to Raquel who will always hold this bond close to her heart.

She is survived by her children, Alicia Hernandez and husband Randall Teich; Alfredo Hernandez; Irma Bartodej and husband James; Omar Hernandez; Caroline Mora and husband Michael and Raquel King.

Grandchildren, Jane Bartodej, Matthew Rundle, Tyler Teich, Apryl Teich, Isaac Hernandez, Tionne Robinson, Jayden Robinson, Jexyn King, Noah Mora, Bella Mora, Eva Mora, Olivia Mora. Great Grandchildren, Paizley and Brix Edwards; Siblings: Santiago Ramirez, Esteban Ramirez, Gloria, Mauro Ramirez, Constancia Ramirez Garcia

Irma had a simple childhood in Allende Coahuila. She once shared a nostalgic story that she and her siblings would play with green shiny bugs called, Figeater Beetles. They would catch the bugs, then take thread and tie it to the body of the beetle and fly them around like a little airplane.

She and her children lived mostly in Washington state, where they worked together picking fruit. They had their fair share of fruit.

Irma was an incredible cook, and was known for making delicious foods! She would pack food for her family they could take to work and a favorite was her chili beans and fried cornbread that was especially loved by her children. Eventually, the family moved to Oklahoma, then Texas, where she called Dublin her home for about 20 years.

Boy, did Irma, enjoy the Dr. Pepper plant in Dublin. To the very end Dr. Pepper was her favorite drink and she would often accompany it with a little bag of Cheetos.

Irma was a kind person. She enjoyed living in a small town. She took great pride in her many plants and flowers. She had quite a green thumb. She could revive any plant and often did so, just ask her girls. Her daughters have now taken up trying to revive the plants and struggle to keep them as healthy as she did.

Our mom was a smart lady, she taught herself how to write and read English. Later in life she took the initiative to reteach herself how to drive again.

To everyone’s surprise, Irma turned out to be quite the basketball fan! Her favorite team was the Dallas Mavericks. She also enjoyed watching her kids play pee-wee basketball.

Our mom loved spending time holding and visiting with all of her grandchildren. Omar held a very special place in our mother’s heart. We will do our best to honor how she cared for him. We will hold dear all of the memories with our mother. She was prepared and at peace with this part of her journey. She will forever be loved and dearly missed.

“The Lord gives me strength and protects me; he has become my deliverer.” Psalms 118:14
