On April 22, 2019, God acquired another angel in heaven. James Olen “Pete” Jones, a.k.a. Jim, was born April 20, 1940 in Oakdale, Illinois. He was the son of Auzie Olen Jones and Lila Tressie Fletcher and brother of Hood Jones, Sue Reed and Bootsie Grant. On October 24, 1959, Jim married Shirley Ann Jones and later had four beautiful children; Kari Templin, Craig Jones, Seree Martin and David Jones. During his career life, he proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1966 as a fighter crew chief stationed at Amarillo AFB, Texas and Hamilton AFB, California. After his service, he moved his family back to Fort Worth, Texas where he continued his love of fighter maintenance by joining the Lockheed Martin team in 1965. During this time, he contributed to the development of today’s fighter aircraft for the Armed Forces. After 33 years of service, Jim retired from the company in 1998. The man of many names was the provider of his family by being a dedicated husband, a loving father of four, grandfather of ten and great-grandfather of three. Nonetheless, Jim finally gets to join his wife, Shirley, in heaven and look upon his family with pride. He will be placed next to Shirley in The Garden of Ever Lasting Love at Greenwood/Mount Olivet Cemetery, 2301 N. Sylvania Ave, Fort Worth, on Friday, April 26, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. In addition, the family would like to extend an invitation to join them at the post-funeral reception hosted at Los Vaqueros, 2629 N. Main St, Fort Worth, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Flowers can be sent to Alpine Funeral Home, 2300 N. Sylvania Ave, Fort Worth, TX, 76111.
