Tristan Rust

August 1, 2006 — January 26, 2025

Haltom City, Texas

James “Tristan” Rust was born on August 1, 2006, in Grapevine, Texas to Moria Diane (Hilliard) Rust and James “Jamie” Scott Rust. Tristan passed away on January 26, 2025, in Lancaster, Texas at the age of 18.

Tristan was always full of life. Always being silly and making people laugh. Tristan grew up in Haltom City living with Jamie, Grammy, and Pops. He attended Haltom High School and one of true passions was sports. He grew up playing basketball, baseball, and football in Haltom City. Tristan also grew up alongside all of his cousins, but he was closest to Gavin and Aubrey. While Tristan was an only child, he, Gavin, and Aubrey were more like siblings than cousins, they were inseparable. They loved doing everything together. Aubrey and Tristan were only 2 months apart, so from the start anytime they were together, we would be asked if they were twins, and of course our answer was always, "yep, they sure are!!!" They have grown up saying they are twins, no matter who asks or were they were going.

Tristan loved being around family. It never mattered what he was doing, if Grammy or Pop's needed anything, there was no question that Tristan wanted to do it. When Gavin had his kids, Tristan fell in love with those kids. He loved going to Gavin's, just to see and hang out with the kids. Another hobby Tristan got into was fishing and aquariums. He really enjoyed going out to local ponds and to go fishing with friends. He went out a couple of times fishing in FL with a friend. He would call home every day to check in on everyone and to tell us what they had caught that day. He just loved being by the water and fishing. He never would eat fish, but he sure did enjoy fishing and just doing catch and release.

Tristan did accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior on 7/31/2016.

Tristan is preceded in death by his mother, Moria Rust; great grandparents: Carroll Lindley McKinney and wife, Betty Marie McKinney, James Anderson Rust and wife, Wilma Jo Rust; great granddad, Charles Pryor; great grandmother, Barbara Pryor; great granddad, CW Lilljedah; and great granddad, Jerry Hilliard.
