A Celebration of Life
Jerry Dewayne Hatcher
Mr. Jerry Dewayne Hatcher, son of the late Hubert Bill Hatcher and Earline Younce Hatcher. Jerry was born December 19, 1955 in Waco, Texas. He attended the public schools of Waco ISD and was a graduate of Richfield High School in 1974. At an early age of ten he professed his faith in Jesus Christ and later in life fell in love with Christ and wanted everyone around him to know Jesus and have a relationship with Him.
Jerry was a member of South Hills Baptist Church in Fort Worth and was active in several ministries, especially with children. He participated in Vacation Bible School and was active in the Children’s Church care. Jerry Hatcher was also an active member of Cancer Care of Tarrant County over the past five years. According to Jerry, his friends at Cancer Care were some of the most beautiful people he had ever met. Being healed of cancer in 2002, Jerry knew that his place in this world and his testimony was served best by sharing with people. His greatest impact was felt by those that were experiencing something that Jerry had been through, conquered and defeated! His testimony helped encourage so many people who were afflicted by cancer. Jerry had always given Jesus the glory for his healing and wanted others to know that power of God as well as medical care. However, the most important message that Jerry shared was that having a relationship with God through Jesus Christ brought peace, a true and lasting peace.
Jerry Hatcher was one of the most generous people you would ever meet. If someone needed his time, he was available. If someone needed financial help, it was available. If someone needed a prayer, it was given. If someone needed Jesus, he was always prepared to share his witness. If someone needed to just talk, Jerry was there. Jerry was loved by many. His Christian life was sincere, beautiful and bold and his influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew him.
