Her children, nieces, and nephews along with most of her siblings carry fond memories of spending every Christmas holiday together at Jewel’s home through the late 90s. Family favorites always served on the table in potluck style, and family members filling every room of the house while the men folk watched sports in the living room.
She took care of both her mother, and later her mother-in-law as they aged in life, and her mother-in-law, “Grandmommy,” lived with her and Jerry until she passed away in 2005.
Jewel is survived by her beloved daughters: Sherry (Kevin) Gallagher, Laurie (Jeff) Brown, Deanna Riley of Fort Worth, Texas; Ten wonderful grandchildren: Jerrod L. (Tara Williamson) Bardin, of Fort Worth, Texas; Robert “Bobby” (Kyndra) Allison of North Richland Hills, Texas, Joseph “Joey’ Allison of Desoto, Texas; Robyn Allison of Delanson, New York; Tiffany (James) Burns, Waxahachie, Texas, and Sara (Benjamin) Wills, Atlanta, Georgia; Bryan Riley, and Sean Riley, all of Fort Worth, Texas, and LouAnn Riley; 23 precious great grandchildren: Jerrod T. “J.T.”, Mason, Liam and Corbin Bardin, Fort Wort, Texas; Kaylee, Bella, and King Carrales, and Bodi Allison, North Richland Hills, Texas; Conner, Elias, and four foster great grandchildren: Genesis, Valor, Ashton and Hunter Burns, of Waxahachie, Texas; Eliana, Jaidyn, Devhan, Alicea and Theodore Wills, Atlanta, Georgia; Justin, Christopher and Reba Riley. Sisters: Clara Kinson, Fort Worth, Texas; and Sandra (Roy “Ted”) Newsom, Granbury, Texas; Brothers: Bobby (Virginia) Atkinson, Boyd, Texas; and Sammy Atkinson (Laura Evans), Azle, Texas. And, a great number of dearly loved nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Bardin; parents Robert and Mattie Atkinson, and in-laws, William and Eppie (Hunter, Bardin) Phillips, Samuel Jesse Bardin; her unborn child, Deanna’s twin; siblings: R.W. Atkinson, Holland “Red” (Hattie) Smith, Jack (Ethel) Smith, Autry Atkinson, and James “Jim” (Delores) Smith; brothers-in-law, Jesse “Ray” (Janie) Bardin and W. W. “Sonny” Kinson; sister-in-law, Varee (M.C) (Bardin) Sherrod; son-in-law, Robert Riley; granddaughter, Katlin Riley; great grandson, Ezekiel Burns; nephews, Sam Bardin and William “Bill” Smith; nieces, Rebecca “Becky” Atkinson and Shirley Sherrod; and great nephew, Justin Newsom.
