Lenis Ray Bench, age 85, passed away on July 30, 2020 at Holland Lake Nursing Center under hospice care after a sudden illness and surgery. Lenis was born in Wolfe City, Texas in Hunt County, to Hubert Bench and Julia Williamson Bench. He was the eldest of eight children.
Lenis retired from the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Department, Civil Division. While working, he enjoyed participating in the Sheriff’s Posse and served as a Captain. After retirement, he worked on a ranch for quite a few years. He loved old western movies, horses, guns and hunting. “He was not a rodeo cowboy, but he was a true cowboy” to quote his son, David.
Lenis is survived by his wife of 22 years, Ada Doris Bench and family; daughter Vicki Haverkorn(John); sons David Ray Bench; Charlie Roscoe(Debbie); sister Sandra Steen and family; grandchildren Sara Morton(Mike); Kristine Boenisch; Whitley O’Brien(Nolan); Kaitlyn Bench; great-grandchildren Ben and Abby Morton; River and Boston O’Brien and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He requested cremation without a service. He was loved and will be missed.
