Lorene J. Moore Davis

October 5, 1944 — September 18, 2021

Lorene J. Moore Davis was born October 5, 1944 in Montgomery, Alabama.  Lorene was eldest child of eleven born to the union of Bishop William Moore, Sr. and Charlie Mae Shuford Moore.  Both preceeded her death. In 1949, her parents moved the family to El Paso, Texas at the age of five along with three younger siblings.  Lorene attended Douglass Elementary School and graduated from Bel Air High School in 1963. Upon graduation she continued her education at the University of Texas at El Paso and Park University at Ft. Bliss, Texas earning a B. A. in Education. In 1966 she was united in holy matrimony to Donald Gene Davis who preceeded her death.  To this union three daughters were born. Lorene’s employment tenure included 28 years at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company where she retired, opening her own Floral and Craft business and working for the Catholic Diocese of El Paso at Cathedral High School and the El Paso Independent School District as a Substitute Teacher from 2003 until 2020. Mother Davis was a lifelong member of Bethel Church of God in Christ (Bethel Int’I Pentecostal Fellowship) where she was taught the Word of God and trained in the ways of God by her parents.  She was under the leadership of Pastors; Supt. Raleigh L. Lawson, Sr., Bishop William Moore, Sr., Supt. Eugene Moore, Sr. All of whom preceeded her in death, Pastor Wilson Tademy and currently Pastor David Lee Moore. Over the years she held various positions in the church to include Choir Director, President of Pastor’s Aide, Purity Class, Young Women Christian Council, Usher Board, Hospitality, as a willing worker. The past few years she traveled back and forth to Ft. Worth, TX to be with her daughters and grandchildren.  In 2008 she was appointed by the Late Pastor Eugene Moore to serve on the Church Mother’s Board.  Additionally, she was licensed as an Evangelist Missionary in the Church of God in Christ. The Bethel Church family and all that knew her will miss her smile. She always had such a giving heart and felt the need to share with family, the saints, and her community both in deeds and verbally.  Mother Davis was a woman of God that her neighbors loved, respected, and cared for over the years. Early Saturday morning in Ft. Worth, TX, September 18, 2021 with her goddaughter LaShaunna Bruce Smith by her bedside speaking words of comfort, Mother Davis transitioned from this life to be with the Lord. What a blessing! She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters: Donna L. Davis, and Dina E. Davis, Ft. Worth, TX., Bettye J Davis, Denver, CO.; four brothers and two sisters: William Moore, Jr. (Alyca), Robert L. Moore, Charles Lee Moore, David E. Moore and Betty Moore, El Paso, TX, Doris Moten (Argyris), Twinsburg, OH,; one sister-in-law, Edwina Moore, El Paso, TX,; four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one uncle, Issac B. Shuford (Margarite), Montgomery, Alabama and one aunt Mattie Shuford, Montgomery, Alabama, two God-sisters; Annette Burton, El Paso, TX and Mary Lou Smith, Straton Island, New York; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, God-children, Bethel Church Family, and the many friends. We must not mourn as those without hope, for Mother Lorene Davis has gone to get the great reward promised to all who faithfully serve our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.” St. John 9: 4
