Marilyn Mae Hurt

Marilyn Mae Hurt was born on April 20, 1947 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Vernice Mae (McDonnell) Jones and Raymond Lewis Jones. She passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 8, 2024 in Fort Worth, Texas at the age of 76. 

She was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School. She had worked at Foster and Gallagher in Peoria, Illinois as well Hardee’s and Wal-Mart in East Peoria. She married Chester Hurt on August 5, 1967 in Peoria, Illinois. Marilyn enjoyed socializing with her friends and family and attending her church. She was a committed volunteer at Liberty Baptist Church food bank in Pekin, Illinois. She had a wonderful talent of crochet and she loved sharing that talent by crocheting afghans for those she cared about. She also loved to watch Little House on the Prairie. Marilyn was a sweet person who loved everyone she encountered.  She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Paul Jones and Robert, sister, Judy, and special friend, Francee Brummitt. 

She is survived by her husband of over 57 years, Chester Hurt of Fort Worth; son, Troy Hurt and wife, Kathi (Halm) of Benbrook, Texas and daughter, Patty Thompson and husband David of Alexandria, VA; grandchildren, Tristan Hurt and Abbie Hurt; sisters, Crystal Cortez, Sheri, Karen (“Lainey”), Beverly O’Connell Davies, Wayne, William, Victor Bosak, and Ann Marie; numerous nieces and nephews, and special friend, Jorja Hartwell.

A graveside committal service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Towles Cemetery in Doniphan, Missouri.
