Martha Ann Markle Canter went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 9, 2023, in Fort Worth, Texas. Visitation and memorial will be held Monday, January 16, 2023, 12:00pm to 2:00pm at Alpine Funeral Home, 2300 North Sylvania Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas 76111. Graveside burial will be held immediately following the visitation and memorial, at Greenwood/Mount Olivet Cemetery, 2301 North Sylvania Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas 76111.
Martha was born on March 18, 1940, in Jonesboro, Arkansas to James B. Giles and Zelma Modena Giles. She loved family gatherings and going on car rides to view Gods scenery. She enjoyed fishing, camping, reading the bible, and collecting porcelain dolls, angels, and chickens. Her love for the Lord was spoken daily and she is now in spiritual comfort.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents: James and Zelma Giles, brothers: Marvin B. Giles, Billy Wayne Giles, Jimmy Giles and Bobby Joe Giles, sisters: Deborah Clark, Glenda Slate and Elizabeth McNeil, first love and father of her children: James Taylor Markle and late husband: George Edward Canter.
Martha was blessed with a big family and is survived by her children: Teresa Markle, Lisa Stokes and her husband Jack Stokes, Joe Ed Markle and his wife Diana Markle, James Keith Markle and Scottie Lee Markle. Martha has 24 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild. Sisters: Donia Arnold and husband Barry and Kay Giles and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sis, Mom, Grandma, Me-Mo, Granny Ann, Mot, Aunt Marthie, Marthie Ann will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her but will forever remain alive in our hearts.
