Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend Martha Jeanne LaFlash passed away peacefully at the age of 79. Surrounded by the love of her family and friends, Martha went to heaven on Aug. 19, 2020.
Martha was born on July 1, 1941, in Macon, Georgia, to Eugene and Alice Wiggins. She was the oldest of four daughters and is survived by her sisters Elizabeth Robinson and Judy Gibson.
Martha married Neil LaFlash in 1959 in Newport News, VA. Together, they created a loving family with five children – David, Jane, Theresa, Maria and Steven. Unfortunately, Steven passed at a young age. Martha was a loving grandmother of nine and a great grandmother to 18.
Martha spent many years in Junction City, Kansas, when Neil was stationed at the U.S. Army base in Fort Riley. Working in a local government office there, everyone in town knew Martha’s name and adored their friend. Martha was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and held an associate’s degree from Cloud County College.
Martha loved God, her family, her beloved furry companions - Trouble and Mara, her chihuahua collection, and of course BINGO!
Martha was predeceased by her husband, Neil (flash), her son Steven, her sister, Francis, parents Eugene and Alice and her very dear friend Peggy.
Martha will be buried alongside her son Steven at the Hampton Roads National Cemetery. Due to COVID-19, arrangements to celebrate Martha’s life will be announced later. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Grand Prairie Homeless Outreach Organization.
