Michael Donald Duffey was born on December 30, 1943, in San Mateo, California to Francis Duffey and Blanche Dibelka. He was called to Heaven by our Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 13, 2024, after a battle with cancer.
Mike began life in San Mateo, California, graduating from Burlingame High School in 1962 and attended the College of San Mateo to play football. He joined the U.S. Navy shortly after and served our country with honor aboard the U.S.S. Intrepid CV-11 1962- 1966. During his time in the Navy, he was thrilled to travel the world and see amazing sights. His deployment was responsible for recovering the Mercury and Gemini space capsules.
After the Navy, he married Dixie Nelson in 1968 and moved to Texas where he remained for the rest of his life. Shortly after arriving in Texas, he joined the Arlington Police Department where he became a Field Training Officer. While serving as a police officer, he helped start the Neighborhood Co-op Patrol in Dallas and provided private security for numerous mansions in Dallas. He later joined the Johnson County Sheriff Department where he served two years on patrol.
Mike came to know the lord in 1973 and helped build Pantego Bible Church. In 1980 he helped plant and build Cleburne Bible Church where all three of his children came to know the Lord. He loved the church and loved supporting church families during their spiritual journeys.
He joined Peyco Properties in 1978 as a property manager until his retirement in 2008.
He is survived by his three children, son; Jason Duffey (wife April), son; Erin Duffey (wife Sara); grandchildren Lillian and Colin Duffey; and daughter; Antaris Duffey, brother; Jim Duffey (wife Jeanie) and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces that make up our wonderfully large extended family.
Mike’s wish was not to have a memorial service and will be cremated and returned to the ground. “By the sweat of your face, You shall eat bread, Till you return to the ground, Because from it you were taken; For you are dust, And to dust you shall return”
