Michael Fred Helmecke was born on July 12, 1952 in Fort Worth, Texas to the late Bertha Jo (Croker) and Moody Trimble Helmecke. He passed away peacefully in the presence of loved ones on August 8, 2024 at the age of 72.
Mike was a proud Fort Worthian and remained a loyal resident all his life. As a child he gained his education in the Haltom Independent School District from grade school through high school. As an adult, Mike was a Journeyman Electrician by trade and enjoyed the intricacy of the electrical field and the ability to work throughout Dallas/Fort Worth. Mike enjoyed the great outdoors in such activities as water skiing, working under the hood of a Ford or hanging out with friends while listening to country & western and classic rock vinyls.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Judy Pruitt; nephew Stephen Pruitt and many friends, as he had many, notably his best buddy, Jerry Walter.
Mike is survived by his children, Kersha Sanders and husband, Scot; Michele Hernandez and husband, Marco; and Jonathan Helmecke and wife, Amanda; grandchildren, Brennan Ladd and wife, Adyson; Adam Kuxhausen, Zac Hernandez, Ariana Hernandez and Leigh Helmecke; nephew Scott Pruitt and niece Amy Mauldin and cousins, notably Jimmy Taber.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Alpine Funeral Home located at 2300 N. Sylvania Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas 76111.
