Robert LaRue Flickinger, age 77, of Fort Worth, Texas went to be with our Lord and Savior on October 16, 2024. Robert was born September 16, 1947 to Ethel Mae (Benson) Flickinger and Leslie L. Flickinger Sr. in Baltimore, Maryland.
At twenty years old Robert joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country for five years. Robert was injured fighting in Vietnam, but his service only made him more motivated to serve others and his community. Robert began working for the Police Department in Blue Mound as Captain of the Reserves until the position ended. He also worked for the city of Azle and Springtown before he moved to the Tarrant County Sherrif’s Office as a Prisoner Extradition Officer. He retired from the Tarrant County Sherrif’s Office in 2001 and began working as a Gas and Valve Inspector for Lone Star Gas. He became an employee for Atmos Energy after they had absorbed Lone Star. He retired from Atmos Energy after many years of being an exceptional employee.
At home Robert was a loving family man. He spent 47 years with the love of his life, Gloria Jean “Jeannie” (Garlett) Flickinger. He remained her faithful husband until her death, June 9, 2018.
Robert is proceeded in death by his wife, Jeannie Flickinger; son, Patrick Flickinger; parents, Ethel and Leslie; brother, Leslie L. Flickinger Jr.; brother, Marvin Fitzgerald; sister, Sheila Roberts; sister, Judy Hughes.
He is survived by his son; Christopher Flickinger of Fort Worth, Texas; son, Michael Flickinger and his wife, Judith of Seattle, Washington; granddaughter, Cheyenne Flickinger of Tennessee; grandsons, Alex and Luis Flickinger of Seattle Washington; brother, Jim Flickinger and his wife, Debbie of Stuart Draft, Virginia; sister, Felita Sanchez of Staunton, Virginia; sister, Marie Gilbert and her husband, Ronald of Staunton, Virginia; and his best little buddy, Bandit of Fort Worth Texas.
In honor of Robert there will be a visitation held from 1:00 PM- 3:00 PM, Monday, October 21, 2024 at Saginaw Park Baptist Church located at 512 S Blue Mound Road, Fort Worth, Texas 76131. A graveside service will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at Mount Olivet Cemetery located at 2301 N Sylvania Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas 76111.
