Robert Nelson Grimes, aged 67, passed away after a brief stay in John Peter Smith Hospital near his home in Mansfield, TX on May 25th of 2022. Robert, often referred to as “Bob”, was born to Nelson and Vera Grimes in San Francisco, CA in 1955 and grew up in Cupertino, CA. Robert attended Cupertino High School and graduated with the Class of 1973. He went on to have a very successful career spanning over 30 years as a PCB Designer in the computer industry with the majority of his career at Apple Inc. He retired in early 2020 and left SF Bay Area for a quiet life in Mansfield, TX. Those who knew him will remember his love for his cars, SF Giants, 49ers and the Raiders. He is preceded in death by both of his parents, his sister Yvonne and her husband Mike Abrams. Robert also reunites with his beloved dog, Junior, who together, will cause a bacon shortage in the afterlife. He is survived by his daughters Jennifer (Josh) Bubnis, Jacie Grimes and by his sons Justin (Aimee) Grimes and Jonathan (Sophia) Grimes. He also leaves behind his niece Suzanne (Eric) Poole and 4 grandchildren. Robert is also a revered member of the “Magnificent 7” and leaves behind the other 6 friends (Ron Heagerty, Dennis Silva, Doug Fraser, Ron Starnes, Pat Minegar, and Mark Ward).
A private memorialization to be held in Lake Tahoe for his family with eventual interment of ashes in Mission City Cemetery in Santa Clara, CA with his dad, Nelson. In lieu of flowers, the family asks those looking to provide support to donate to the American Diabetes Association and hug a loved one.
