Trenton David Pace

December 1, 2009 — March 6, 2021

Trenton David Pace was born December 1, 2009 in Arlington Texas. Trent stayed in the NICU for 28 days at birth, undergoing various tests and procedures to try to pinpoint his medical condition. He came home from the hospital and was adored by his family. Trent was the world's best snuggler, and having low tone body made him perfectly mold into whoever was lucky enough to hold him. His family enjoyed competing to see who could make him smile or laugh. As his medical complications increased and his condition got more severe, this got harder to do and the smiles came less often, but that made for a pretty sweet reward when you got them.

Trent could not walk or talk, he could not eat, he could't read or write, but he was the world's best teacher for those that were willing to listen. He taught sacrifice. He taught service. He taught perseverance. This kid fought through SO many critical hospitalizations and illnesses, and he surprised even the most seasoned experts a number of times. He taught unconditional love. He taught flexibility. Better not cherish your plans too tightly, because we might be in the hospital! He taught stillness. To sit with Trent, who was unable to "do" what the world could do, was to learn to be content with and even cherish stillness. He taught simplicity - he didn't need much - just an ipad with Yo Gabba Gabba playing and he was content. He taught submission. He taught us to trust in the Lord's plans, even when it doesn’t make sense to us. His condition made him perfectly model dependence and reminded us that we should fully depend on the Lord in the same way. He taught us courage - he was the bravest person we knew. He taught us to long for heaven - that we were never really meant for this world. He taught us to pray bigger, laugh until your oxygen drops, keep your eyes open for God to work in unexpected ways, and leave the world better than you found it. He did that on March 6, 2021.

Trent was not put on this earth for his own benefit. He was given one of God's highest callings. He was asked to come into this world in a broken body and let God use him as a vessel to change those around him. To glorify God by bringing out the best in others and pointing them to Him. Well done, sweet boy.
